OSCAR'S BEST PICTURE FOR 2008..A SURE WIN!!!

If there is one film in the Oscar race that I have to give a million bet, this film will definitely be it. Slumdog Millionaire, is beyond the Bollywood film you'll ever expect it to be.. as connotation to Indian films..this one has the winning Oscar formula...A tragic tale in life as told in sub stories of the main character, Jamal..who's knowledge was being questioned of cheating when he's on the streak of winning a quiz show..and the love story between him and Latika..It does help that the movie was directed by a British visionary, bringing to life the reality of human condition in our side of the world. I'm very sure that the film was also very Filipino in it's many content. The slums, the poverty, the clash between religions and beliefs, the opportunists and the survival. The movie taught me that the real measurement of knowledge is thru ones lesson and experience in life. Who would have thought that all the questions were answered truthfully because of Jamal's encounters and occurrence in his struggle for existence and contentment. The realism between his relationship with his brother and the undying love for Latika, elements of a sure winner in this year's Oscar race.

REVOLUTIONARY ROAD - KATE AND LEO DESERVES AN OSCAR NOD

I was able to watch Revolutionary Road this afternoon, I'm not a big fan of Titanic nor a Leo fan but I'm a big admirer of Kate Winslet's movies. I don't know what to expect while watching the movie since I haven't had the chance to read Richard Yate's novel. All I know is that, this movie is the big comeback for the two icons. It was an emotional journey to get along with the characters in the film, a relationship taken for granted and an ambition set aside because of normal existence in life. I'm taken with the fact that hopelesness creates positive outlook especially when you decide to conquer and explore your potential. The movie sets on a path to an emotional recovery of a suburban couple having marital bliss because of the ideals of what the society dictates, a man has to work for his family and the woman has to take care of their home. The confrontation scenes between Leo and Kate were a revelation, I think they should have receive a nod from the Academy Awards. Michael Shannon, playing a psychiatric patient, deserves his nomination. The movie felt like a Christopher-Vilma film, very confrontational but were done with minimal and controlled emotions. You won't have a dull moment watching this movie.

The Bridge....(A Czech Movie...)

I just came home from a worship festivity in our community...when during the break a movie called "The Bridge" was shown...At first I wasn't concentrating..but there was something in the movie that made me see it...I was bothered by the choice the father has to decide with..whether to sacrifice the lives of many..or to sacrifice the life of his son.. a choice he has to make..in a few seconds..it's a story that made me realized my relationship with God...It was an awakening..I included two versions of the film for you to truly understand the scene...by the way the movie was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 for Best Live Action Short Film...truly one of the best film that year...just see it for yourself..It's very compelling..please share the message with your loveones and friends...c",)

Eating Out at Super Bowl of China...

Yesterday we went on malling at the Festival Supermall in Alabang...Upon a tiring walk and fun games at Pixie Forest..and the 2 hours wait of Hair Rebonding at the Bench Fix Salon...we decided to eat...my cousin is kinda health buff so she wants to eat veggies and seafood..numerous restaurant went our way, finally she chose the Super Bowl of China...I once had the chance to taste its cuisine..but it was a take out..I admit their food taste good..so its not going to be a problem with me...so we all went inside and was seated in the middle of the dining area...we we're courteously accommodated by their receptionist and was endorsed to a young waiter...It was OK, not until he was taking our orders...the service was bad...he kept on leaning and he was not even that polite...he lacks the basics when it comes to taking orders..i kept my calm, as you can see it's very hard for a person who has been training restaurant staff for the past 10 years to experience this situation...I just told myself be patient...our orders came fast...the first order was served by a different server...he was polite...when it was our assigned servers' turn, "wow" it was bad as hell..he placed our orders at our table with that banging sound...I kept cool..but was staring at him...observing his next move...Overall, my conclusion is THAT HE NEEDS PROPER TRAINING........the manager came and was asking about the food and service...we said the food was great, about the service I kept mum...I thought what if this guy is just new and he needs work...I think it's the management's responsibility to really train their staff before letting them do it on their own...I was a Dining Manager before at Dome Cafe...and I always observe my staff...Proper motivation and training is the key to good service...to Super Bowl's management please take note...don't worry the food was great...c",)
